Regulations

Skit

1. Only one team per school will be allowed.
2. A maximum of 8 participants are allowed to participate in this item.
3. The duration of the skit shall be between 6–8 minutes.
4. Use of makeup, drapery, and background music is allowed. No personal remarks, aspersions, character assassination, etc., are allowed.
5. Participating teams should submit three copies of the synopsis of the theme of the skit, along with the language of presentation (Hindi or English), on the day of registration.
6. The item will be judged based on qualities like theme, work on acting, stagecraft, design, and general impression.
7. Vulgarity or bitter insinuations in the presentation should be avoided. Only innocent satire or humor is expected.
8. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Street Play

1. Only one entry per school will be entertained.
2. Each team should consist of 5 to 12 members and the maximum number of accompanists should not exceed 3.
3. Teams can choose their own theme with prior approval.
4. Content must be original, appropriate for all age groups, and not include any offensive, disrespectful, or vulgar content.
5. Performances can be in Hindi, English, or a mix of both. Use of local dialects is permitted.
6. Each team will be allowed a maximum of 15 minutes for their performance. Exceeding the time limit may result in point deductions.
7. Teams are responsible for their own costumes and props, which should be minimal and easy to set up and remove within the allowed time. Hazardous materials or open flames are prohibited.
8. Teams can use musical instruments or pre-recorded music, which must be submitted to the organizers in advance.
9. Performances will take place in an open area designated by the organizers. Teams must ensure their setup and performance do not cause any damage to the venue.
10. Judgment will be based on creativity, relevance to theme, acting, team coordination, and overall impact.
11. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Mime

1. Only one entry per school will be entertained.
2. A maximum of six participants are allowed to participate in this item.
3. Judgment will most likely be based on qualities like idea, creativity of presentation, use of makeup, music, and general impression.
4. Duration of performance shall be between 4-5 minutes.
5. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Painting

1. Each school will be represented by one participant.
2. Topic for the Painting competition will be ‘ Heritage of Gujarat ‘ .
3. The duration will not be more than 2 hours and 30 minutes.
4. The size of the painting will be half imperial size drawing paper, i.e., 22” x 15”.
5. Painting can be done in oil, water, poster, or pastel colors.
6. Candidates shall bring their own material. Only paper will be provided by the organizers.
7. The judgment will be based on originality, creativity, composition, and technical skill.
8. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Clay Modelling

1. Each school will be represented by one participant.
2. Duration will not exceed 2 hours 30 minutes.
3. The topic for the clay modeling is “Motherhood”.
4. Participants shall bring their own materials, such as clay, tools, etc.
5. The size and other specific rules will be announced on the spot.
6. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Cartooning

1. Each school will be represented by one participant.
2. Topic for Cartooning will be ‘ Tech Addiction ‘ .
3. Duration will not exceed 2 hours 30 minutes.
4. Participants shall bring their own materials. Only the drawing paper 22” x 15” will be provided by the host University.
5. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Poster Making

1. Each school will be represented by one participant.
2. Topic for Poster Making will be ‘ India @ 2024 ‘ .
3. The duration will not be more than 2 hours and 30 minutes.
4. Participants shall bring their own material. Only the drawing paper/sheet 22” x 15” will be provided by the organizers.
5. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Rangoli

1. Each school will be represented by one team of 3-5 participants.
2. The Rangoli should cover an area of 2 x 2 feet.
3. Participants must use only dry colors and can use a variety of designs.
4. Topic for Rangoli will be ‘ Traditional India’.
5. The duration of the Rangoli making will be 2 hours.
6. The judgment will be based on creativity, color harmony, and overall presentation.
7. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Mehendi

1. Each school will be represented by one participant.
2. The participant will be required to draw Mehendi designs on both hands of a model (chosen by the participant) within the given time.
3. Theme for Mehendi will be ‘ Festival ‘
4. The duration will be 2 hours.
5. The participant should use only natural Mehendi.
6. The judgment will be based on creativity, intricacy, and overall aesthetic appeal.
7. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Quiz

1. Each school can send a team of three persons.
2. There will be a written preliminary round and teams will be selected for the final.
3. Finals will be oral with audio-visual questions.
4. Specific rules regarding the evaluation procedure, time to reply to a particular answer, and the type of round will be given before the start of the competition.
5. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Elocution

1. Each school will be represented by one speaker.
2. Medium of expression will be Hindi, English.
3. Each speaker has to speak a minimum of 4 minutes and a maximum of 5 minutes.
4. Topics for the Elocution Competition will be ‘ Adhyatm Se Vigyan, Mera Bharat Mahan ‘ , ‘From Spirituality to Science, My India is Great.’.
5. The performance will be judged in one language.
6. The item shall be prose or poetry and not a song.
7. Reading from paper or any other source is strictly not permissible.
8. The sequence of speakers will be decided by a draw of lots.
9. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Debate

1. Each school will be represented by two debaters, one will speak For, while another will speak Against the motion
2. Medium of expression will be Hindi, English, Gujarati & Urdu.
3. Topic of debate will be “Does the current education system and policies adequately prepare students for the real world?”
4. Each debater has to speak for a minimum of 4 minutes to a maximum of 5 minutes.
5. Reading from paper or any other source is strictly not permissible.
6. The competitor from each school will speak For and Against the motion.
7. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Poetry

1. Each school will be represented by one Poet.
2. Medium of expression will be Hindi, English, Gujarati & Urdu.
3. Each speaker has to speak a minimum of 4 minutes to a maximum of 5 minutes.
4. The performance will be judged in one language.
5. The item shall be poetry and not a song.
6. Reading from paper or any other source is strictly not permissible.
7. The sequence of poets will be decided by a draw of lots.
8. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Classical Vocal Solo (Hindustani/ Karnataka)

1. Only one entry per school is allowed.
2. Duration of performance shall be between 5–6 minutes.
3. Time for stage/instruments setting is a maximum of 3 minutes.
4. Maximum number of accompanists is two.
5. Items can be presented in either Hindustani or Karnataka style.
6. Cinema songs are not allowed under this item.
7. Judgment will be based on qualities like Tal, Selection of Raga, Elaboration of Raga, Composition, Alap, Taan, Layakari, and General Impression.
8. Accompaniment should be live and not recorded.
9. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Classical Instrumental Solo (Percussion – Tal Vadya)

1. Only one entry per school is allowed.
2. Duration of performance shall be between 3–5 minutes.
3. Time for stage/instruments setting is a maximum of 3 minutes.
4. Maximum number of accompanists is two.
5. Participants must bring their own instruments.
6. Items can be presented in either Hindustani or Karnataka style.
7. Judgment will be based on qualities like Taal, Selection of Raga, Composition, Kayada, Rela, Tukda, Layakari, and General Impression.
8. Accompaniment should be live and not recorded.
9. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Classical Instrumental Solo (Non-Percussion – Swar Vadya)

1. Only one entry per school is allowed.
2. Duration of performance shall be between 3–5 minutes.
3. Time for stage/instruments setting is a maximum of 3 minutes.
4. Maximum number of accompanists is two.
5. Participants must bring their own instruments. Casio is not allowed.
6. Instruments of western origin adopted by the Indian Raga system are allowed.
7. Items can be presented in either Hindustani or Karnataka style.
8. Judgment will be based on qualities like Swara, Taal, Selection of Raga, Elaboration of Raga, Alalp, Taan, Layakari, Composition, and General Impression.
9. Accompaniment should be live and not recorded.
10. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Light Vocal (Indian)

1. Only one entry per school is allowed.
2. Duration of the song shall be between 4 to 5 minutes.
3. Time for stage/instruments should not exceed 2 minutes.
4. The number of accompanists should not exceed two.
5. Only non-film songs/Geet/Ghazal/Bhajan/Shabad and Abhangas can be presented.
6. Judgment will be based on qualities like Swara, Tal, Selection of Raga, Selection of Song, Aesthetics, Pronunciation, Expression, Composition, and General Impression.
7. Accompaniment should be live and not recorded.
8. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Group Song (Indian)

1. Only one entry per school is allowed.
2. A team has to present two songs, one patriotic and another a folk song.
3. Maximum six singers in a group and up to three accompanists playing instruments.
4. The group songs should be in Indian languages or regional languages.
5. No film songs should be presented as a group song.
6. Duration of performance shall be between 5–6 minutes, excluding setting time. Setting time for a group shall not exceed 4 minutes.
7. Judgment will be based on the quality of singing, Selection of Song, Pronunciation, Theka, Coordination, and not on makeup, costumes, and actions of the team.
8. Accompaniment should be live and not recorded.
9. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable

Group Songs (Western)

1. Only one entry per school is allowed.
2. Maximum six singers in a group and maximum number of accompanists playing instruments is three.
3. The group songs should be in English language.
4. Duration of performance shall be between 5–6 minutes.
5. This does not include setting time which shall not be more than 5 minutes.
6. Judgment will be based on the quality of singing only and not on makeup, costumes, and actions of the team. Overall presentation.
7. Accompaniment should be live and not recorded.
8. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

Folk Orchestra

1. Each school can send only one team.
2. The team shall consist of up to a maximum of 10 participants.
3. The group may consist of all boys, all girls, or a combined group.
4. Duration of performance shall be between 5–6 minutes.
5. This does not include setting time which shall not be more than 5 minutes.
6. Up to three professional accompanists are allowed who should be in different dress from the student participants so that they could be easily identified.
7. The professional accompanists shall sit/stand separately from the participants and shall not lead the team and judges will ensure with introduction etc.
8. The team may present preferably those folk tunes which are recognized as folk tunes of the state to which the university belongs.
9. Singing is prohibited.
10. Marking would be strictly on the quality of music composed. Instruments should be used which are mostly used in Folk Music. Judges to announce and ensure that efforts on creating visual elegance with set design in orchestra etc. would not be considered for marking. Any sort of dance during the event shall be discouraged by jury members.
11. Accompaniment should be live and not recorded.
12. The decision of the judges will be final and non-objectionable.

1. Only one entry per school is allowed.
2. It will be a group event.
3. Each group will be given 4-5 minutes of performance time.
4. A team must consist of 10-14 participants.
5. The overall performance must be based on choreography and fashion trends in clothing.
6. Participating teams have to focus on dressing style, hairstyle, makeup, props, music, accessories, etc.
7. Judgment will be based on walk, theme justification, costume, and confidence.
8. The group must present in a single theme, which is traditional Gujarati attire.
9. Themes related to social causes will not be entertained.
10. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
